Biography
Clarinetist Tomoko MacIntyre received her Bachelor of Music degree from Kunitachi College of Music with distinguished performance in Japan. She later received her Master of Music degree from Eastman School of Music.
She won the first prize in the 11th Chieri International Competition in Italy and played the Mozart Clarinet Concerto as a soloist with the Chieri Orchestra.
She has received awards from several competitions such as the Concerto Competition winner at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, third prize in the Japan Clarinet Associations Young Clarinet Competition, and first prize in the Okinawa prefecture solo competition.
She performed as a soloist in the University of Maryland Baltimore County Orchestra, the Japanese imperial palace in Tokyo, the Yamaha newcomer concert, and the Yomiuri newcomer concert.
She has participated in numerous music festivals throughout Europe and Japan. She has studied under clarinetists including Jon Manasse, Alessandro Carbonare, Dr. E. Michael Richards, Richard Stoltzman, Karl Leister, Shigeru Ikushima, and Ken Uehara.
Although she has the most experience with classical music, she also enjoys playing other genres of music, as well as teaching. She is currently located in the Bay Area, CA.
